Wilmington NC -Cameron Art Museum

On my way to a meeting, I noticed several interesting sculptures on the front lawn of the Cameron Art Museum. Knowing I had only about fifteen minutes to spare, I quickly set about getting some shots . Here is what fifteen minutes of your time can produce.

Note: Saturday Septembr 29th all Smithsonian affiliated Museums are open and free.

  1. Wow, Thom! 15 minutes?! You captured some great-looking shots. The whirligig looks like a Vollis Simpson work of art. It’s a beauty! I’ll do a little google work. Vollis is based in Wilson, North Carolina. You should see his front yard! T. (There’s also a Simpson whirligig at the American Visionary Art Museum in Baltimore. It’s spectacular! I used to work at the museum.)

    • Theadora,
Spot-on. “Enjoy family hands-on art activities, the dedication of our giant Vollis Simpson whirligig by the lake, music by Possum Creek Bluegrass Band, clay studio exhibition and demos, Civil War reenactors and more. This event is free and open to the public.” from one of the museum’s brochures.
