Many people are familiar with Ogunquit during the summer. It is a beautiful village with an outstanding 3-mile beach. The place swarms with tourists but still allows you to move around quite freely. September and October still have busy weekends but during the week there are fewer people and you have more time to enjoy the art galleries and shops. Early in September the beach still has warm sand and, for the brave souls, there is the Atlantic ocean. I would stay away from the very end of October as most shops, restaurants and museums may be closed.
