Fredericksburg VA – Falmouth Va – The Hobby School

This is part One of Three parts covering Falmouth VA  (just a little part of it)

It is amazing what you can do with a little “google”, a little car, a few footsteps and a camera. The cold snap has somewhat ended here in Fredericksburg and being bored, I looked for things to do in the area. I came across a site showing an old school-house called the Hobby school. It was an original building from 1883  run as a school by Master Hobby.

The Hobby’s School is said to be the school that George Washington received his early education at, between the ages of seven and eleven. The school was kept by ‘Master Hobby,’  nickname of William Grove.

The Building had been moved to its present location 1930 in what is called the “Union Cemetary.”
